4. Tips to increase your intake

Milk first
Make sure you drink at least one glass of milk daily. Trade soft drinks for milk, chocolate milk, milkshakes, hot chocolate or café latte. Put milk in soups or use milk instead of water when making oatmeal.

Cheese up your day
Get your day off to a good start with some cheese on your toast. It’s great in sandwiches and livens up a salad. Add some cheese to white sauces and omelettes, or top off your dishes with cheese, browned under the broiler.

Powdered milk with everything!
It’s easy to add a little powdered milk to everything to increase your intake of milk products. Muffins, soups, white sauces, rosé sauces, and pureed vegetables all get a richer texture when you add a little powdered milk.

Yogourt your way
Yogourt is great on its own, but it also goes well with cereal and fruit for breakfast. It also makes dynamite yogourt shakes and delicious dips.

Milky treats
Rice pudding, milk pudding, blanc-mange, crème caramel or custard: milk-based desserts are easy to make, and popular with young and old alike.

A quick snack
To prepare a simply delicious snack, garnish plain or vanilla yogourt with one of the following garnishes: cinnamon, applesauce, maple syrup, raisins or muesli.

Completely dippy
Combine a diced cucumber, dill, salt, and a dollop of mayonnaise with plain yogourt. A perfect dip in a flash!

A pudding frappe!
Want to make a single serving of pudding? In a 1 cup (250 ml) container with a well-fitting lid, pour ½ cup (125 ml) of milk and add 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of your favourite instant pudding. Close the lid and shake until thickened. Let stand a few minutes before diving in. It’s child’s play!

Tuna delight
Place some tuna, tomatoes, and Canadian Swiss cheese on both sides of a bun and broil.
