1. Statistics of physical inactivity
In the fight against obesity, the quality and quantity of foods consumed is important. However, less attention is given to energy spent on physical activity. Yet, the two are inextricably intertwined. Whether you’re managing your weight or staying healthy, it’s much better to combine good food habits with regular physical activity. It’s the best combination to enjoy life – longer!
According to data from national surveys, more than half of Canadians are physically inactive. Inactivity increases as people age. Women are more inactive (59%) than men (53%). New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Quebec have the highest percentages of inactive people. Our congratulations to British Columbia, which has the lowest percentage of physical inactivity.
